Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Coating

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Creamy Parmesan Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Season Chicken: Generously season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.
  3. Prepare Breading Mixture: In a bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and half of the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well to distribute all the seasonings evenly.
  4. Coat Chicken: Dredge each chicken breast in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down firmly so the coating adheres well and forms a crispy crust when baked.
  5. Bake Chicken: Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the chicken is cooked through, the crust is golden brown, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. Make Creamy Parmesan Sauce: While the chicken bakes, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the heavy cream and the remaining Parmesan cheese. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
  7. Serve: Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oven and drizzle the creamy Parmesan sauce over the top. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken for an hour before breading.
  • You can substitute different cheeses like mozzarella or gouda for a unique twist on the sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
