Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 1 cup crab meat (imitation or canned lump crab meat, well drained)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature, 1 brick, 250 grams)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 4 green onions (thinly sliced, white and green parts)
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

Topping

  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • ½ cup Thai Sweet Chili Sauce (optional)

Wonton Chips

  • 24 wonton wraps (cut in half diagonally to make triangles)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) or cooking spray/oil for air frying

Garnish

  • 1 green onion (thinly sliced, white and green parts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese: If the cream cheese is not at room temperature, warm it slightly in the microwave for about 10 seconds until soft to the touch.
  3. Mix Dip Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, minced garlic, green onions, soy sauce, sugar, and 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  4. Transfer to Baking Dish: Spread the mixture evenly into an oven-safe baking dish (1 quart or an 8×8, 9×9, or 8-9 inch round dish).
  5. Add Topping: Sprinkle the reserved ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the dip.
  6. Bake the Dip: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until the dip is bubbling and the cheese on top is slightly browned.
  7. Prepare Wonton Chips (while baking): For fried chips, heat vegetable oil in a skillet on medium-high. Fry wonton chip halves for 20-25 seconds per side until golden, crispy, and bubbly. Drain on paper towels. For air-fried chips, preheat air fryer to 400°F. Lightly oil or spray chips and arrange in a single layer. Cook 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy.
  8. Add Optional Topping: Once baked, spread Thai sweet chili sauce over the top of the dip if desired for a sweet and mildly spicy flavor.
  9. Serve and Garnish: Serve the hot dip with the wonton chips or alternative dippers like tortilla chips, crackers, or veggie sticks. Garnish with thinly sliced green onions.

Notes

  • Wonton wraps can be found in the refrigerated section near tofu and salad dressings. Egg roll or spring roll wrappers may be substituted if necessary.
  • Wonton chips are optional; feel free to serve the dip with tortilla chips, crackers, veggie sticks, pita bread, or any chip you prefer.
  • If cream cheese isn’t room temperature, warming slightly makes mixing easier.
  • Thai sweet chili sauce adds sweetness and a mild kick, but can be omitted for a milder dip.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the air fryer or frying pan when cooking wonton chips to ensure crispiness.
