Ingredients

Scale

For the Bruschetta Base

  • 8 1/2-inch-thick slices sourdough bread
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Topping

  • 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 2 cups diced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Toast Bread: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush one side of each sourdough bread slice with melted butter and arrange them on the baking sheet, buttered side up. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until they become golden brown and crispy.
  2. Cool the Toasts: Remove the toasted bread slices from the oven and allow them to cool completely to prevent the topping from melting and sliding off.
  3. Prepare Nutella Cream Cheese Spread: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the room temperature cream cheese and Nutella together until smooth and fully combined. Alternatively, use a hand mixer or mix by hand until creamy.
  4. Assemble the Bruschetta: Spread the Nutella and cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled sourdough toasts. Then, top each slice with a generous amount of diced fresh strawberries.
  5. Add Toasted Walnuts: Sprinkle the toasted chopped walnuts over the strawberries to add texture and a nutty flavor to your bruschetta.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy this luscious, fruity treat.

Notes

  • To toast walnuts on the stovetop, add them to a small sauté pan over low heat. Cook while stirring frequently until fragrant, about 3 minutes. This enhances their flavor.
  • Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for smooth blending with Nutella.
  • Allow bread to cool completely after toasting to keep the topping from melting.
  • This recipe is best enjoyed fresh to maintain the crisp texture of the toasted bread.
