Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 7 cups Rice Chex Cereal, or store brand version
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 18 fun size Butterfinger candy bars (15 crushed, 3 roughly chopped for garnish)
  • 1 ¼ cup powdered sugar, sifted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cereal base: Add the 7 cups of Rice Chex Cereal to an extra large bowl, ensuring you have enough room to mix thoroughly without spilling.
  2. Melt the chocolate mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips, ½ cup creamy peanut butter, and ¼ cup salted butter. Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir well until the mixture is completely melted and smooth, ensuring an even coating later.
  3. Add vanilla flavor: Stir in 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract into the melted mixture until fully combined to enhance the flavor profile.
  4. Coat the cereal: Drizzle the chocolate peanut butter mixture over the cereal. Gently stir to coat the cereal pieces evenly without breaking them.
  5. Add crushed candy: Stir in the 15 crushed fun size Butterfinger candy bars into the coated cereal mixture, distributing the candy evenly throughout.
  6. Coat with powdered sugar: Sprinkle 1 ¼ cups sifted powdered sugar over the cereal mixture and stir gently. Alternatively, transfer the coated cereal to a large (2 gallon) ziplock bag, add the powdered sugar, seal the bag, and shake well to ensure all pieces are well coated while keeping the sugar contained for easy cleanup.
  7. Let dry and garnish: Spread the powdered sugar-coated cereal out on a baking sheet to dry. Just before serving, sprinkle the 3 roughly chopped fun size Butterfinger candy bars on top for garnish and extra texture.

Notes

  • Milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, or candy melts can be used as alternatives to semi sweet chocolate chips for different flavor variations.
  • You can mix Rice, Corn, and Wheat Chex cereals for a more textured mix.
  • Try adding fun extras like mini peanut butter cups, Reese’s Pieces, or Butterfinger balls to customize your snack.
